Upcoming Horror Movies 2013 - Part 2

See Part 1

SCREAM PARK

SCREAM PARK is an 80s style slasher which takes place in an amusement park and stars horror legend Doug Bradley (Hellraiser) and Skinny Puppy's Ogre. DVDs are available for pre-order through the webstore and will be released soon.

Synopsis: "Fright Land amusement park is closing down for the last time. Lack of business and interest have lead to poor sales and no profit. The park's owner, Mr. Hyde (played by Doug Bradley) devises a scheme to sell tickets once again. He hires two backwoods Appalachian men to break into the park after hours and gruesomely dispatch the park's employees. Hyde believes the murders will create a media sensation for the park. People will buy tickets once again just to see where it all happened. Once it's done, they can even begin to sell souvenirs and theme rides based on the murders"

PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 5

Yes it seems PA really is becoming the new SAW. Number 5 has been confirmed but I guess we'll have to wait and see if it can match SAW's total of 7 films. I gave up on the franchise after the first three movies sucked so I'm not looking forward to this at all but I know there are plenty of people who are. A release date of October 25th, 2013 has been confirmed.

INSIDIOUS CHAPTER 2

I clearly didn't enjoy INSIDIOUS as much as a lot of other people did, but it was a decent film so I'll probably check out this sequel. No plot details yet but Leigh Whannell has said that the Specs and Tucker characters will be making a return and IMDb has a release date set for August 30th, 2013. The film will be directed by James Wan and penned by Leigh Whannell.

YOU'RE NEXT

Adam Wingard's home invasion flick will starring Sharni Vinson, Ti West and Joe Swanberg sounds like a blast. Expect to see it unleashed August 23rd, 2013.

Synopsis: "A family reunion turns into a full-on massacre when a gang of masked killers invade a sprawling country mansion on a ruthless mission of murder. Paul (Rob Moran) and Aubrey Davison (Barbara Crampton) are about to celebrate their wedding anniversary, and they've invited their grown up children out to the country to share in the revelry. The first to arrive are Crispian (A.J. Bowen) and his new girlfriend Erin (Sharni Vinson). It isn't long before the rest of the family has filed in as well, and the party gets under way. Later, at the dinner table, old sibling rivalries begin to resurface and parental preferences quickly become apparent. Just as tensions begin to flare up, however, a crossbow arrow blasts through the glass window and panic sets in. The family is under attack. But who are the savage invaders donning eerie farm animal masks, and what is their motive behind slaughtering everyone in the house? No one is safe as the blood starts to flow, but Erin is determined to see the dawn, and she's got the survival skills to strike back at her attackers with deadly force"

I, FRANKENSTEIN

Plot details are pretty vague and it sounds kind of UNDERWORLD-ish but I'd say this is one to look out for, simply because there haven't really been that many good Frankenstein films. With Bill Nighy, Miranda Otto and Aaron Eckhart I, FRANKENSTEIN is set for a September 13th, 2013 release.

Synopsis: "Frankenstein's creature finds himself caught in an all-out, centuries old war between two immortal clans"

CABIN FEVER: PATIENT ZERO

The last I heard, filming on this prequel was underway last month and although there isn't a release date yet or a trailer, check out the image actress Jillian Murray tweeted regarding her gory demise in the film.
PATIENT ZERO is directed by Kaare Andrews and stars Sean Astin, Jillian Murray, Currie Graham, Brando Eaton and Ryan Donowho. Expect it sometime next year.

Synopsis: "A flesh-eating virus spreads throughout a cruise ship in the Caribbean after it crashes into an abandoned scientific research boat"

THE 4TH REICH

I first heard about this back in 2011 and haven't really heard much more since the casting news in May this year. A release date hasn't been confirmed yet but IMDb has this listed for a 2013 release. Whatever the case the cast is looking pretty damn good with Sean Bean, Tom Savini, Doug Bradley, Shaun Robert Smith and Simon Bamford.

Synopsis: "During the early hours of June 6th 1944 a bloody but victorious offensive took place in occupied Western Europe that would claim thousands of lives. Codenamed 'Operation Overlord' the armies of the combined allied forces would begin their long push to Berlin, with the aim of bringing down the despised Nazi regime. But the chilling realities of Hitler's true intentions are exposed, to create a force that can never be beaten, a 4th Reich - The New World Order. A team of Nazi doctors and scientists were charged with generating a superior race. Their experiments and research would produce unspeakable evil and change the face of humanity forever. A small select brigade of soldiers from the British 3rd Infantry Division, under the command of the battle hardened Captain Bathurst embark on a dangerous quest to liberate Europe. Fighting their way through the French countryside, villages and war ravaged towns..."

THE JUNGLE

Director Andrew Traucki is responsible for two Australian horror films BLACK WATER and THE REEF both of which pit man against nature. This time around it seems he's taking a similar path but in a different location; THE JUNGLE. No specific release date as of yet but it should be out some time next year.

Synopsis: "Big cat conservationist LARRY BLACK and his filmmaker brother BEN travel into the Indonesian jungle to find and document the rare and endangered Javan Leopard. As they travel deeper and deeper into the jungle they realise they are being stalked by a deadly predator"

PACIFIC RIM

Guillermo del Toro's PACIFIC RIM is scheduled for a July 12th, 2013 release date. An epic looking film about gigantic robots battling enormous alien beasts. It looks like PACIFIC RIM may just be what this year's BATTLESHIP was aiming for.

Synopsis: "When an alien attack threatens the Earth's existence, giant robots piloted by humans are deployed to fight off the menace"

HORNS

HORNS is based on the novel by Stephen King's son Joe Hill and while I have yet to read it the synopsis does sound intriguing to say the least. Alexandre Aja is directing and Daniel Radcliffe is starring. Should see a release sometime next year.

Synopsis: "In the aftermath of his girlfriend's mysterious death, a young man awakens to strange horns sprouting from his temples"
