Thanks to Dread Central for bringing this (kind of) new Australian horror flick to my attention. Stuart Simpson's EL MONSTRO DEL MAR has picked up a bunch of awards during the 2010 festival season, and has received rave reviews. Find the trailer and synopsis below along with some pretty awesome looking artwork and screenshots.
You can also check the official website for more info.
Synopsis: Three gorgeous but deadly hired killers, Beretta, Blondie and Snowball, hole up in a small beachside community to keep a low profile. But this town has a dark secret. The local old sea baron, Joseph, tries desperately to warn them to never go into the water. But these crazy vixens listen to no one, especially no crazy assed old fool. So the Kraken awakes! Now, along with Joseph and his beautiful granddaughter, Hannah, they must fight for their lives against this furious creature of the deep as the sea rises in a tidal wave of blood.

Also starring Scott Brennan (Comedy Inc, Skithouse), Steven Stagg (Flipside, Demonsamongus), Richard Wolstencroft (MUFF), Rusty Benson (Review with Myles Barlow) & David Gannon (Eraser Children).
