When the word 'disturbing' is used in reference to a horror film I always get a little excited. And disturbing is exactly the word I would use when talking about GUT, and that's after only reading the synopsis and watching the trailer!
From what I gather GUT is bypassing the seemingly simpler path of pure in-your-face blood and guts and instead focusing on creating a more serious, intelligent and thought provoking film which explores the psychological effects of long term exposure to subversive material. The trailer is reminiscent of something like VIDEODROME but I'll have to hold my final judgement until I actually see the film in its entirety which I am hoping will be very soon.
GUT is currently available on demand in the US and Canada on a wide array of platforms including PS3, XBox, Amazon, Vudu and more. For more details on how you can see this intriguing indie horror head on over to the official Facebook page and website. And make sure you take a minute or two to check out the trailer below.
GUT is written and directed by the mononymous Elias (LovecraCked! The Movie) and stars Jason Vail, Nicholas Wilder, Sarah Schoofs, Angie Bullaro, Kirstianna Mueller, Kaitlyn Mueller. With Maria Victoria, Miles Joris-Peyrafitte and Karl Pfeiffer.
Synopsis: "Something is missing in Tom’s life. His marriage has lost its spark, his job is suffocating him, and his childhood best friend Dan still clings to the past. Every day he goes through the motions, becoming increasingly detached from those around him. Dan thinks he has the solution, a mysterious video Tom’s got to see to believe… tonight. What Dan shows him leaves Tom unsettled, flooding his mind with disturbing images and desires, and binding the two friends together with its ugly secret"
